Plastic weighing the equivalent of one billion elephants is now in landfills across the globe. It takes hundreds, if not thousands, of years for each piece to decompose
Just think about that for a second…
It’s because of the many startling statistics such as this affecting our planet that The Ethicalist was launched in August 2017
As the Middle East’s first independent ethical lifestyle publication, The Ethicalist provides intelligent and inspiring information to help readers make more conscious choices in their day-to-day lives.
The Dubai based, digital-first magazine provides weekly updated content covering everything from social good to sustainable style in the form of zeitgeist features, exclusive interviews, real-life reports, news snippets and long reads.
With an award-winning team of editors and contributors, we aim to be the go-to authority on all things sustainable. Whether it’s tips and tricks to lead a greener lifestyle, how-to guides to live more responsibly; or insightful, thought-provoking articles on human rights issues, environmental matters, and corporate social responsibility, we will change people’s mind-sets with our easily digestible, quality content.
But, if you thought ethical was boring, think again! From luxurious and purse-friendly fashion, to beauty, food and travel tips, we deliver it all with humour, glamour, and of course, impeccable eco credentials.
Our goal is to make conscious living more accessible by providing relevant, engaging features that fit into your busy lifestyle, resonate with your conscience, and help you make small but impactful changes.
Apart from the magazine, we’ll be compiling weekly digests of the most important stories to be delivered straight to your inbox, sharing the love on social media, and also doing live events and community initiatives going forward.
Leading a more conscious, ethical life is easier than you think. Let us show you how.
The Ethicalist: Inspiring Conscious Living
Who We Are
Founding Editor: Anthea Ayache is the reason The Ethicalist exists. Having spent many years at Gulf News Broadcasting and The Arabian Radio Network as a broadcast and print journalist with a passion for human and animal rights, Anthea realised there was a niche in the Middle East market for a magazine that dealt solely with making the world a better place. And here you have it.
Managing Editor: Karen Pasquali Jones is an award-winning, innovative, cross-platform editor who has created, launched and edited women’s magazines and websites in the UK and the Middle East. She helmed the UAE’s number one English speaking publication, Gulf News supplement Friday Magazine for just under five years, and is credited with placing it in that coveted position.
Chief Sub Editor: Peter Iantorno: A journalist with a penchant for the finer things in life, Peter was introduced to the ethical lifestyle by his eco-loving wife. After spending the last five years in Dubai working as a subeditor, features editor and managing editor for the likes of Gulf News, EDGAR and MOJEH MEN, Peter can now be found in the rainforests of Brunei, doing his bit for the Bornean orangutan all the while overseeing The Ethicalist.
