Lazy Mornings, Japanese Style: Alba Reinvents Weekend Breakfast in Downtown Dubai

2 mins

Alba in Downtown Dubai has launched a breakfast with a difference with its new Japanese Lazy Morning, a laid-back get-together inspired by choushoku, Japan’s unique breakfast ritual

If your idea of the perfect weekend involves rolling out of bed late, sipping something sparkling, and enjoying the kinds of dishes that you won’t find at your corner café, then Alba’s Japanese Lazy Breakfast might just become your new ritual. Sitauted right next the Dubai opera in Downtown Dubai, the super stylish Alba brings the art of choushoku – Japan’s beloved breakfast tradition – to the city.

A Menu That Wakes You Up in Style

Forget avocado toast, Alba’s mornings begin with Tamagoyaki, the fluffy Japanese omelet reimagined with a range of luxe toppings. If you’re craving something heartier, their Japanese sando with Truffle Tamago is far from an ordinary breakfast bite.

Alba’s tostadas, that also come with a range of toppings, are a nod to Mexico while keeping Japanese precision in place. But the showstopper is the Okonomiyaki (a Japanese-style pancake), that comes laced with savoury nori.

For hungry folk, a delicious Miso Soup or vegetable Ramen will revive even the laziest guest. And for those with a sweet tooth, there are Japanese-inspired desserts galore on offer to end things off. Think Fruit Sandos, Yuzu Toast, and Mini Yuzu Pancakes flecked with matcha.

If decision-making isn’t your strong suit before coffee, Alba has you covered with the Lazy Set: a four-course event through Tamagoyaki, Sando or Tostada, Scramble, Okonomiyaki or Ramen, followed by dessert. Drinks flow freely, with unlimited coffee, tea, juice, wine, or beer included, plus Alba’s artful cocktails and mocktails. Highlights include If Unicorns Were Real, a vodka-vanilla-passion fruit concoction with sparkling sake, and Wise Turtle Going Nuts, a macadamia-gin creation.

Set in a venue so glam it feels like a secret, Alba keeps things intimate with just 25 covers per session. The vibe is calm and the service excellent – a true rarity in Dubai’s weekend dining scene. And if you’re in the know, there’s even a hidden room you can hire, where the cocktail menu comes as a wooden disc that twists to reveal over 1,000 possible creations!
