Dubai’s sustainability conversation gets a tactile update this Earth Day as bkry teams up with The Waste Lab for a one-off, hands-on workshop at Alserkal Avenue.
Taking place on Wednesday, 22nd April, the event invites guests to engage with the realities of food waste and the practicalities of composting.
Limited to just 12 participants, the workshop draws from The Waste Lab’s established programmes, including its ‘Introduction to Food Loss, Waste & Composting’ and ‘Art & Science of Composting,’ but adds a participatory edge.
Guests will learn to distinguish between browns and greens through a segregation exercise, handle fresh compost, and test their understanding with an interactive quiz.

The collaboration reflects a growing shift in Dubai’s hospitality scene, where sustainability is moving from messaging to action.
Founded in 2021, The Waste Lab has already diverted more than 7 million kilos of food waste from landfills, resulting in significant emissions savings and a steady supply of compost for local farms.
To mark the occasion, bkry is introducing a limited-edition Edible Chocolate Flower Pot, served to workshop participants and dine-in guests during the session.
The dessert, layered with chocolate fudge cake, hazelnut, and crémeux, finished with a feuilletine ‘soil’ embraces the theme of growth, regeneration, and circular thinking.
