The accolade from the third-party certification system, highlights the resort’s dedicated efforts in reducing food waste.

Addressing a pressing global issue, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort is taking a stand against the staggering statistic from the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), which reveals that one-third of food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted globally.

By aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2 and 12, the resort is playing its part in creating a Zero Hunger World while promoting sustainable consumption and production.

Food waste is not just a matter of hunger, but a significant contributor to climate change. Partnering with Sustainability Expert Radhika Arapally from Sustainability Kiosk, the resort has implemented a multifaceted strategy encompassing certification, supplier relationships, and technology integration to tackle food waste.

Some strategies include collaborating with suppliers to source sustainable ingredients to minimise waste through the supply chain, adopting technologies to optimise food waste management, and educating staff and guests about the importance of reducing food waste.

As a result, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort earned The PLEDGE’s Gold certification allowing them to set a benchmark in the local hospitality industry and beyond, for others to follow.
