Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort has received the prestigious Silver Stamp from Dubai Sustainable Tourism recognising its commitment to green tourism

Dubai’s Anantara The Palm Resort has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability, responsible tourism and the environment.

The Palm Jumeriah beachfront hotel has been awarded the Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST) Silver Stamp, from the emirate’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

The luxury resort was among the pioneering 70 hotels honoured with the award, with only 28 reaching Silver Status.

James Hewtison, General Manager at Anantara said: ‘We are incredibly proud to receive the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Stamp. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering dedication to environmental responsibility and commitment to contributing to a more sustainable future for Dubai’s tourism industry.’

Launched in 2023, the award recognises hotels that demonstrate exceptional dedication to environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

It also encourages responsible tourism practices across the industry, supporting Dubai’s goal of achieving the UAE’s NetZero 2050 initiative.

Anantara The Palm Pioneers

The cosmopolitan hotel has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to sustainability, investing in energy-efficient technology and initiatives to combat food.

In 2023, waste diversion rates increased from 62 per cent to an impressive 66 per cent through collaborative efforts and participation in a Food Waste program.

Notably, the implementation of food waste monitoring software and customer engagement strategies resulted in a significant reduction of 2,500kg in waste at their largest restaurant in just two months.

An on-site digester processes waste into garden irrigation and a water bottling plant has eliminated over 1.1 million plastic bottles with sustainable glass alternatives.

Last year Dubai hosted a record number of tourists, attracting 17.15 million visitors according to the DET .
