This November, Dubai will solidify its status as a horology hotspot with the launch of Watch Locater, a one-of-a-kind event showcasing rare pre-loved timepieces.
For the first time in the Middle East, watch enthusiasts will have the chance to buy from a curated collection of pre-owned luxury watches at an exclusive three-day exhibition. From the iconic Rolex Daytona and GMT Master to the legendary Omega Speedmaster and Patek Philippe Nautilus, Watch Locater will showcase a range of sought-after masterpieces from 25 boutiques.
Held at the One & Only Royal Mirage ballroom from November 1-3, the event will gather connoisseurs and collectors from across the GCC and Europe.
The event was founded by seasoned experts Georges and Camille Sofia, who have over 40 years of experience in the Gulf’s luxury watch scene.
‘Dubai is a hugely respected hub for horology so it made perfect sense to kickstart Watch Locater here in this thriving city,’ explain Georges and Camille. ‘Home to many discerning collectors and watch fans from around the world and with a growing interest in used luxury watches, we wanted to do something that has yet to be done and bring the regions first professional pre-owned watch sales event to the market.
‘We have carefully curated a superb range of trusted exhibitors who share our passion for horology and are offering a rare opportunity for collectors to build relationships with like-minded individuals who wish to buy beautiful and hard-to-find pre owned timepieces in a friendly and trustworthy environment.’
In addition to the exhibition, live auctions will also take place where select timepieces will go under the hammer. Visitors can also sell their pre-owned watches to a specialised exhibitor.
As the pre-owned luxury watch market continues to surge, valued at $25 billion in 2023, Dubai’s luxury watch industry is expected to generate nearly $3 billion in revenue in 2024 alone.
