Truly sustainable bedding has long been difficult to find in the UAE, but we’re happy to inform you that MINOA has changed everything. Gone are pieces that feel worthy, instead expect bedding that feels closer to silk than linen, and that will have you struggling to leave your bed.
Crafted from European flax linen, bamboo lyocell and responsibly sourced natural fibres, MINOA brings conscious materials into the bedroom without compromising on softness, breathability or design. Yes, even the buttons are easy to use – now that’s a first for eco-bedding.
We sat down with the team to find out more.
TE: Can you talk us through the materials behind MINOA, where they’re sourced, how they’re processed, and why those choices matter for both comfort and environmental impact?
At MINOA, materials are chosen with a long view in mind. How they feel today matters, but how they age, how they are produced, and how they interact with the planet matters just as much.
Our European flax linen is sourced from France, where flax is grown naturally using rainwater only, without irrigation or genetically modified seeds. It is one of the most environmentally responsible fibres available, requiring minimal inputs while offering exceptional breathability and durability. Rather than wearing out, flax linen becomes softer and more comfortable over time.

Our bamboo is produced using a lyocell process rather than viscose. This is a closed-loop system in which over 99 percent of the solvents are captured and reused, dramatically reducing water waste and chemical impact. The result is a fabric that retains bamboo’s natural softness and breathability without the environmental cost often associated with bamboo textiles.
We also work with hemp, one of the most sustainable fibres available. Hemp grows quickly, requires very little water, regenerates soil, and absorbs more carbon dioxide than most crops. It produces a strong, naturally antibacterial fabric that is both breathable and extremely durable, making it ideal for long term use.
Each material we use is selected to support comfort, longevity, and environmental responsibility. At MINOA, sustainability is not a feature. It is the foundation of every decision we make.
TE: People often talk about thread count, but what should consumers focus on when choosing high quality bedding?
Thread count is often misunderstood and frequently used as a marketing shortcut.
What truly matters is fibre quality, yarn length, weave structure, and finishing. Long staple fibres create smoother, stronger fabrics that last longer and breathe better. A thoughtfully woven textile made from high quality fibres will always outperform a high thread count fabric made from short, heavily processed yarns.

Consumers should also pay attention to how bedding behaves throughout the night. Breathability, moisture regulation, and temperature balance have a far greater impact on sleep quality than a number printed on a label.
Good bedding should support the body quietly and consistently, without drawing attention to itself.
TE: What were the hardest decisions you had to make in building MINOA differently, and where did you refuse to compromise?
The hardest decisions were choosing quality over speed.
We refused to compromise on material integrity, sourcing transparency, and product longevity, even when faster or cheaper alternatives were available. That meant longer development cycles and higher costs, but it also meant creating products designed to live with people for years, not seasons.
We also refused to compromise on honesty. We believe consumers deserve clarity rather than exaggerated claims. MINOA is built on trust, not trend, and that principle guides every choice we make.

TE: Sleep has become one of the new pillars of modern luxury. From your perspective, how do thoughtful textiles contribute to better rest?
We spend nearly one third of our lives sleeping, yet sleep environments are often treated as an afterthought.
Textiles sit directly against the skin for hours every night. If they trap heat, restrict airflow, or overstimulate the body, true rest becomes difficult. Thoughtful textiles work quietly in the background. They regulate temperature, manage moisture, and create a sense of safety and calm that allows the nervous system to fully relax.
Modern luxury is not about excess. It is about restoration. When sleep is properly supported, everything else in life improves.
TE: If MINOA could change one habit in how people shop for bedding, what would it be?
We would encourage people to stop buying bedding as a decorative purchase and start choosing it as a daily wellness decision.
Ask where it comes from.
Ask how it is made.
Ask how it will feel after years of use, not just after the first wash.

Sleep is not a luxury add-on. It is a foundation for living well.
TE: MINOA works with mulberry silk, which is often misunderstood due to animal welfare concerns. Can you explain your approach?
Our decision to create mulberry silk filled pillows and duvets is rooted in sustainability through longevity rather than excess.
A well made mulberry silk filled pillow can last between ten and fifteen years, compared to the average two years of conventional synthetic or feather pillows. Mulberry silk filled duvets also significantly outlast standard alternatives, reducing replacement cycles and overall material waste.
We use long strand mulberry silk, including high quality fibres that are often left over from other silk production processes. Instead of discarding these long fibres, we repurpose them as filling, allowing exceptional material to be used responsibly while maintaining performance.
Mulberry silk naturally regulates temperature, is breathable, hypoallergenic, and resistant to dust mites and bacteria. It maintains its structure without aggressive chemical treatments, enabling pillows and duvets to perform consistently over many years.
Historically, mulberry silk filled duvets were only available through ultra premium luxury brands, making them inaccessible to most consumers. At MINOA, our goal is to preserve the craftsmanship and performance of these products while making them more accessible, without compromising on quality, materials, or ethics.
For us, sustainability is not only about where a material comes from, but how intelligently it is used and how long it continues to serve its purpose.
