Dubai’s first – and still only – Michelin-starred vegetarian fine dining restaurant is leaning fully into the plant-based moment this January.
Set in Dubai Hills Estate, Avatara has a technique-driven approach to Indian cuisine, spotlighting seasonal vegetables and bold flavours. The result is a Veganuary experience that’s five star, conscious, and exciting.

Veganuary diners can enjoy Avatara’s tasting menus at lunch and dinner.
Avatara Lunch
Lunch is refined but generous, with dishes such as wasabi greens with coral cookie and pickled daikon, butternut paired with chickpea taco and black lime, and an unexpectedly refreshing aloe vera course served with tom kha gelato and pomelo salad.
Heartier plates follow, including corn sourdough bhatura topped with tonburi, raw banana varuval with curry leaf sorbet, and a standout jackfruit dish layered with teardrop peas, spinach and kaffir curry.

Avatara Dinner
Dinner can expect the extended Experience Menu introducing truffle mushroom tart with black garlic aioli, eggplant wrapped in shiso with yuzu kosho, and green pea kebab with spinach and kaffir curry. Dessert doesn’t disappoint, finishing on a comforting but elevated jasmine rice with pandan, jaggery and sesame ice cream.
At the helm is Head Chef Omkar Walve, whose Michelin-starred background shows in the precision of every plate. His approach treats vegetables as the main event: layered, expressive and unapologetically indulgent.

‘Plant-based dining should never feel restrictive,’ he says. ‘Veganuary is simply an opportunity to show how refined and exciting vegetarian and vegan cuisine can be.’
