The Careem initiative will provide air-conditioned mobile rest areas, free health screenings and hydration stations for delivery drivers regardless of which platform they work for

Careem has launched a four-month summer support programme to help more than 80,000 delivery riders across the UAE.

Running from June until September, the initiative will provide air-conditioned mobile rest areas, free health screenings and hydration stations for delivery workers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Al Ain.

Launched in partnership with MAJRA National CSR Fund, the 2026 Captain Summer Initiatives programme is open to all delivery riders in the UAE, regardless of the platform they work for.

Mobile rest areas will be stationed at busy delivery locations, giving riders somewhere to cool down and rehydrate between journeys during the hottest months of the year. Free health screenings will also be offered in partnership with Pakistan Association Dubai, while cold water, fresh fruit juices and ice cream will be available at stations across key delivery zones.

PepsiCo has joined the initiative as its Official Refreshment and Snack Partner, providing drinks and snacks throughout the four-month programme.

Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, said the programme had expanded to four cities this year, with health screenings added to the support available.

‘Captains are the heart of Careem and the high quality of daily life that all of us enjoy across the UAE,’ he said.

Sarah Shaw, CEO of MAJRA National CSR Fund, said the partnership demonstrated the potential for companies to work together to create wider social impact, and called on more private-sector organisations to support the initiative.

“We see this as the beginning of a broader movement,” she said. “We invite other organisations across the private sector to join us in expanding this initiative.”

The programme comes as delivery riders face some of the most challenging working conditions of the year, with summer temperatures in the UAE regularly climbing above 40°C.
