As Lebanon continues to grapple with one of the most severe humanitarian crises in its recent history, Careem has launched a new campaign aimed at supporting families struggling to access food.
Called Seeds for Lebanon, the initiative has been developed in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and enables customers across the region to contribute to emergency food relief efforts through a variety of services within the Careem app. Importantly, Careem has pledged to match every donation made through the campaign, effectively doubling the impact of each contribution.
The campaign offers several ways for customers to get involved. Donations can be made directly through Careem’s in-app giving platform, while food lovers can also support the initiative by ordering from participating restaurants, including The Good Bowl, Wrapped, Sofret Beirut, Oventine by Al Safadi, Al Safadi and Manoushe Street. Careem will donate AED 2 from every order placed with participating outlets.

In a nod to Lebanon’s agricultural heritage, customers can also purchase Lebanese olive oil through Careem Quik, with 100 per cent of profits directed towards relief efforts. Meanwhile, Careem Pay is waiving transfer fees for money sent to Lebanon, helping ensure more funds reach friends and family directly.
Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem, said the company felt a responsibility to support communities across the region during difficult times.
‘What is happening in Lebanon is heartbreaking, and we feel a deep responsibility towards the people of our region,’ he said. ‘Through Seeds For Lebanon, we are making it as easy as possible for our customers, partners, and wider communities to contribute to those in need. By matching every donation, we hope to multiply the impact of every contribution made.’
According to the World Food Programme, many families in Lebanon are facing increasing hardship and food insecurity. Bashar Al Hammami, Head of WFP Partnerships in the UAE, said partnerships such as this help transform public generosity into immediate food assistance for those most in need.
The initiative also builds on Careem’s previous humanitarian fundraising efforts. Earlier campaigns saw customers, partners and employees collectively raise more than AED 2.2 million for relief programmes, with almost 47,500 food orders linked directly to charitable giving.
As conversations around food security continue to grow globally, initiatives such as Seeds for Lebanon highlight the role businesses can play in connecting everyday consumer choices with meaningful humanitarian support.
