Brazilian B-Corp sneaker brand Cariuma has teamed up with Olympic Skateboarding Federations from the Netherlands, Portugal, and Slovakia to create eco-friendly uniforms for the Paris 2024 Games.
The brand, loved by celebs like Naiomi Watts, Helen Mirren, and Ashton Kutcher, worked with award-winning designer Pedro Andrade of Brazilian streetwear brand Piet, who crafted uniforms that pay homage to ’90s and ’00s soccer shirts.
The result is a stylish, sustainably savvy collection that’s perfect for both Olympic athletes and mere regular fashion enthusiasts alike.

‘As a good Brazilian, my passion for soccer and its references was inevitable,’ explains Andre. ‘And I believe that many people like me have fond memories of soccer uniforms, bringing a sense of unity; with this in mind, I looked for references in each country to create scenes that would bring, even if subtly, a nostalgic feeling when someone saw or wore these pieces.’
Roos Zwetsloot from the Netherlands, silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Games Gustavo Ribeiro from Portugal, and Richard Tury from Slovakia, are the three boarders who will take part in the summer games wearing Cariuma’s new consciously crafted uniforms.
The uniforms also extend to footwear, with Cariuma seizing the opportunity to craft four custom, eco-friendly shoes for Jagger Eaton and Kelvin Hoefler – multiple-time Brazilian National Champion – as well as Gustavo Ribeiro and Roos Zwetsloot. The sneakers line will be worn by the athletes during their Olympic performances but are also available for fans to buy.

The brand’s venture into Olympic uniforms is an impressive feat for the young company but also a natural progression since Cariuma has had its own skate team of world-renowned athletes since 2020. Team Cariuma has picked up a host of medals including Kevin Hoefler winning silver in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics for the Men’s Street Skateboarding and Jagger Eaton picking up bronze in the same event.
Conscious Cariuma
Sustainability lies at the core of Cariuma’s mission, and this skatewear is no different. The kits are made entirely in Portugal using 100 per cent recycled fabrics and organic cotton.
To reduce carbon emissions, Cariuma uses recycled PET bottles and nylon as some of their primary fabrics. This reduces water usage by up to 90 per cent – compared to the production of virgin plastic – and reduces energy use by as much as 53 percent.

Fernando Porto, Co-Founder of Cariuma, said it’s a defining moment for the young brand: ‘I have been skateboarding since I was 10 years’ old and it’s a dream to watch the impact we have created within the community.
‘We have planted over 2.5 million trees in the Brazilian rainforest since starting our program three short years ago, and we are very excited about what the future holds.’ he added. ‘The brand is in a very special moment, and the Paris Olympics come at a time when it all makes sense, in huge alignment with our global wholesale growth.’
With years of experience creating high-quality skate sneakers like the popular CATIBA Pro, Cariuma brings both expertise and eco-consciousness to the Olympic stage.
The unisex items can be purchased at Cariuma.com and select skate shops globally. Every piece sold will contribute to the brand’s in-house reforestation program, ‘Pair for Pair’, planting one tree per purchase.
