Support Dubai’s Smallest Business Owners
Forget lemonade stands, on Saturday, September 19, Times Square Center will be taken over by entrepreneurs aged just five to 18 for Maison Tini’s Tini-preneurs Market.
Running from 10am–1pm, the market gives children and teenagers the opportunity to create their own products, set up a stall and sell directly to real customers. Visitors can browse handmade crafts, art, jewellery, games and other creations, while the young sellers get an unusually practical lesson in communication, confidence and financial awareness.
It’s great weekend entertainment for children and an opportunity for families to spend their dirhams supporting young makers rather than another multinational.

Spend an Afternoon Art-Hopping at Alserkal Avenue
Dubai’s cultural calendar also springs back to life this month, with 19 exhibitions opening across 16 galleries and art spaces at Alserkal Avenue, featuring artists from the UAE, the wider region and beyond.
Among the exhibitions worth seeking out is Palestinian artist Bashar Khalaf’s The Field of Dreams at Zawyeh Gallery, featuring two bodies of work, Junk Garden and Protective Shield. At Ayyam Gallery, Tangerine Dreams explores the associations and emotions surrounding the colour orange, while Hisham Sharif’s first UAE solo exhibition, Allusive Veil, opens on September 23, using dreamlike paintings and symbolism to explore childhood, gender and private life.
The beauty of Alserkal is that you don’t need to be an art expert to have a great time. Give yourself an afternoon, wander between warehouses and just see what stops you in your tracks.
Make Sunday a Market Day at The Greens
For another family-friendly outing, MINT Family Market returns to The Greens on Sunday, September 27, bringing local businesses and families together for a community-focused weekend event.
Running from 12pm to 6pm and completely free to attend, the market puts independent local businesses firmly in the spotlight, with fashion, lifestyle, wellness and artisanal finds all represented. Look out for names including Rima Handcrafted Jewellery, Velvet Box and Everpure.
Activities run throughout the afternoon to keep younger visitors occupied, and four-legged family members are welcome too, making the whole event dog-friendly. Social Company at Zabeel House is also running its Sunday lunch alongside the market, with a vegan cauliflower steak among the options and children aged six and under eating free with every accompanying adult order.

Have a Slow Breakfast at Coffee Planet
There is something to be said for a weekend plan that involves doing considerably less. Homegrown UAE brand Coffee Planet has cafés dotted through neighbourhoods including JVC Circle Mall, Dubai Hills Business Park, Dubai Hills Mall, Foundry Downtown, Etihad Plaza and Fountain Views, making it an easy option for breakfast without crossing half of Dubai to get there.
Its coffee beans are roasted locally in the UAE, with everything from flat whites, cortados and piccolos to a Pistachio Crème Latte. There’s also a Tonic Trio comprising Strawberry AçaÃ, Coconut Lemon and Espresso Tonics. Breakfast options include avocado toast with eggs, açaà bowls and pancakes.

Start Planning a Cooler-Weather Escape to Jebel Jais
If September has you dreaming of getting outdoors again, there’s significant development underway on Jebel Jais.
Plans include an 80km Grand Loop mountain journey and a five-day Via Ferrata extending up to 20km across four sections of varying difficulty, alongside wider work on the mountain’s trail and climbing network. Mountain rescue support is also planned across the network.
The projects are still in development, so this is one to watch rather than pack for immediately, but they point towards a much broader vision for low-impact adventure tourism around the UAE’s highest mountain. That’s another reason to escape the city once temperatures dip.

Save the Date: Dubai Curl Festival
Finally, one for October. Dubai Curl Festival is set to launch as the first family curly-hair festival in the UAE and GCC, created by community-led platform Oh My Knots.
Rather than simply another beauty event, the festival will combine education, expert advice and brand experiences with a celebration of naturally curly hair and, importantly, bring children into the conversation too. We think helping children see their natural features celebrated feels very worthwhile!
Leading beauty and lifestyle brands will join the event, with partners including LUSH and lululemon, alongside a wider programme of curl specialists, demonstrations and activities, with attendees also able to discover samples and goodie bags from participating hair brands throughout the day.
