In a unique celebration, The Macallan has marked 200 years of whisky-making excellence with an artistic tribute in the heart of the Dubai desert. Teaming up with Guinness World Record-holder Nathaniel Alapide, known for his stunning sand murals, The Macallan brought its new ‘200 Years Young’ logo to life in the sands of Al Qudra.
The impressive sand artwork not only celebrated The Macallan’s rich history but also highlighted its future, as the brand continues to lead the world of luxury single malt Scotch whisky.
The Macallan’s journey began in 1824, when Alexander Reid first distilled the whisky on the scenic Speyside Estate in Scotland. Fast forward to today, and The Macallan’s newly revealed ‘200 Years Young’ logo – designed by acclaimed visual artist Alex Trochut – encapsulates everything the brand stands for: timeless craftsmanship, innovation, and tradition.
Inspired by the flow of the River Spey and the sleek curves of The Macallan’s award-winning distillery, the new logo’s wave pattern depicts a connection between past and future – a fitting tribute to a brand that seamlessly blends heritage with cutting-edge design.

To mark this milestone in the UAE, the unveiling of the ‘200 Years Young’ logo was an impressive affair. The exclusive evening included breathtaking views of the sand art, followed by dinner at Bab Al Shams, one of Dubai’s iconic desert resorts. Friends of the brand and whisky connoisseurs gathered for this one-of-a-kind event to celebrate the two centuries of beverage history.
Sustainability at The Macallan
Beyond the new logo, The Macallan’s anniversary celebration underscored its dedication to sustainability. For decades, the brand has taken bold steps to reduce its environmental impact and promote responsible practices in whisky production.
The state-of-the-art distillery, located in the heart of Speyside, Scotland is at the forefront of sustainable innovation. Built in 2018, it was sustainably designed, using energy-efficient technology and locally sourced materials. The state has also committed to regenerative agriculture practices, to ensure the natural beauty of the area remains.

The whisky brand has also announced plans to switch to 100 per cent recyclable packaging and reduce carbon emissions throughout its supply chain by 2025. This extends beyond the distillery, focusing on the production of whisky and how it’s distributed globally.
